Peter Campbell
I have lived in Yorkshire for 20 years and have been an Orthopaedic Consultant at York Hospital for 15 years. Originally from the Wirral, I qualified from Kings College, London in 1985 & spent the following 10 years training in a wide range of surgical fields. Before concentrating on a career in orthopaedic & trauma surgery, I had gained experience in accident & emergency medicine, abdominal surgery, vascular surgery and plastic surgery, working hospitals as far apart as London & Newcastle.
I am a general orthopaedic surgeon, who specialises in hip & knee replacements, lumbar spinal surgery and trauma. Specifically this includes revision surgery, hip resurfacing procedures, unicompartmental knee replacements, lumbar discectomy, decompression and x-stop procedures.
I believe that as a patient you should be treated as an individual. I will ensure that you have the information you require, in a way that can you understand , about your condition, the options for treatment and the benefits, risks and outcome of any proposed surgery.
I have a passion for training & teaching. It is vitally important to, not only pass on my experience & skills to future generations of surgeons, but also to be a role model in terms of holistic patient care. I, therefore, not only train & mentor orthopaedic surgical trainees, but also tutor medical students and teach on local, national & international training courses.
I am married to Nicki, who is a successful exercise, nutritional & lifestyle coach and have 3 great children. Between them, they manage to keep my head in the clouds, and feet on the ground! Outside of work we all enjoy music, fell walking, camping & cycling.
